Our family loves telling stories! Familiar to all families are countless stories about hardships and blessings, sorrows and joys, memories and dreams, and many of those have been told around the table.
Like many teenagers, our first employment was in the food industry. Fonda started her first job as a busgirl at a fine dining restaurant in the Lake Norman area, and Kenny worked as a pizza maker/cook in Charlotte, NC, for the Fisichello family. As young adults, we developed a passion for the flavor and texture of New York style pizza from the many years working at
Mario’s Pizza, which originated in Binghamton, NY.
After surrendering to the ministry a couple of years into our marriage, we headed to Raleigh for Kenny's continuing education. He then worked for over 12 years for the McDonald’s corporation as a store manager and later a maintenance supervisor of 13 locations. This was our family provision while he also served as bi-vocational youth pastor in the Raleigh area. But after multiple spinal surgeries and disability setting in for Kenny, we made our way to Oak Island in 2016 for Kenny to heal and learn to walk with partial paralysis in his leg. We suddenly found ourselves “starting over” but this "starting over" included an additional three mouths to feed. Kenny did not let his new limitations take away his passion for providing for his family, and set out to open our little pizzeria, a life of hard work we both knew very well. And upon opening Bambini's Pizzeria, Kenny trained our children in his lifelong skills, and they have worked faithfully day in and day out by our side! We are thankful for over six years of serving the Southport and surrounding community. We have survived hurricanes, a pandemic and multiple additional surgeries for Kenny; we have not only survived, but we have also thrived. Our Bambini’s customers have easily turned into friends and family who cheered us on and stood by our side, some even volunteering their time to help clean a table or take an order. We are blessed beyond human measure!
NOW...What we did not expect in the midst of this crazy adventure is a desire to do what we do in India! We visited India for the first time in September of 2022, and fell in love with the culture, the people, the sights, the sounds and even the beautifully unique aromas that you quickly take in stepping off the airplane. After many visits, it has become like home. We have been seeking ways to introduce pizza to Jaipur, and have begun the process of construction on Bambini's NY Pizza of India, which should hopefully open for business in 2025.

The moment we learned about 23 little girls in a remote village in India, and saw the pictures of their sweet faces, we fell in love and knew we had to meet them. We also quickly decided to turn Wednesdays into a fundraising day...after all, we used to spend every Wednesday night for years cooking meals for church and teaching our church youth groups.
Wednesday Missions at Bambini's turned into a big hit among our locals and also our tourists. And it quickly provided for us to spend time with all the girls meeting and hugging them in September of 2022, sharing meals with them, and continues to faithfully provide 100 percent of their monthly needs (food, shelter, clothing, schooling, etc)! AND within the past year, Wednesday mission tips in addition to daily needs, also provided repairs to their home from monsoon season damage, and a well for fresh water has been installed on the property! AND in the very near future, they will be able to have their meals in a dining room!
We are so thankful to all who faithfully support our Wednesday Mission for India!
